Barcelona moved to the brink of retaining the La Liga title after a 2-0 victory over Getafe on Saturday, extending their lead at the top of the table.

Goals from Fermin Lopez and Marcus Rashford secured the win for Hansi Flick’s side, who now sit 11 points clear of second-placed Real Madrid. Madrid’s draw against Real Betis on Friday further strengthened Barcelona’s title position.

The Catalan club could seal the title next weekend if they defeat Osasuna and Real Madrid fail to beat Espanyol.

Despite missing key attackers Lamine Yamal and Raphinha through injury, Barcelona did enough to overcome a physical Getafe side that attempted to disrupt their rhythm with persistent fouling.

Barca struggled to create clear chances early on, with Dani Olmo coming closest after a surging run but firing wide.

The breakthrough came just before half-time when Pedri set up Lopez, who calmly slotted home while wearing a protective face mask following a recent injury. The midfielder celebrated by mimicking Yamal’s “304” gesture in tribute to the absent winger.

With Getafe pushing for an equaliser after the break, Barcelona found more space and opportunities. Olmo was denied by goalkeeper David Soria, while Jules Kounde headed narrowly wide.

The second goal arrived when Robert Lewandowski released Rashford, who finished clinically to seal the victory and put Barcelona firmly in control of the title race.

The result leaves Barcelona needing just one more step to confirm their status as champions.
