U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire, set to begin on Thursday.

Trump disclosed that the agreement followed what he described as “excellent” discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.

According to the U.S. leader, the temporary truce is expected to commence at 5 p.m. EST, as part of efforts to de-escalate ongoing hostilities between both countries.

However, there has been no official confirmation on whether the Iran-backed militant group, Hezbollah, has agreed to the ceasefire terms.

Trump said he has directed key U.S. officials, including Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and senior military leadership, to work closely with both nations toward achieving a lasting peace.

The ceasefire announcement comes amid ongoing violence that has seen thousands killed and over a million displaced in Lebanon, following sustained Israeli airstrikes and ground operations in the country’s south.

Trump also indicated that further diplomatic engagement is expected, with plans for direct communication between the Israeli and Lebanese leadership.

While the development signals a possible pause in hostilities, uncertainty remains over the full participation of all parties involved in the conflict.
