NBA condemns Sowore’s courtroom conduct in Abuja

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has condemned the conduct of former presidential candidate and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to the NBA, Sowore disrupted proceedings by attempting to address journalists inside the courtroom, setting up recording equipment, and sitting on a table, despite his case not being listed for hearing and without legal representation.

The incident reportedly led to a confrontation with Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Musibau Adetunbi, who insisted on maintaining courtroom decorum.

In a statement, NBA President Afam Osigwe said courtrooms must remain spaces of discipline, respect, and lawful proceedings. He emphasized that access to the courts does not extend to using the courtroom for press briefings or publicity stunts.

The NBA expressed solidarity with Adetunbi and other lawyers, urging court authorities to protect judicial proceedings from acts that undermine the dignity of the court and the legal profession.
