TSA boosts Akwa Ibom IGR from N2bn to N7bn monthly — Gov Eno

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has disclosed that the state’s internally generated revenue, IGR, has risen sharply from N2 billion to N7 billion monthly following the introduction of the Treasury Single Account, TSA.

Speaking during the monthly prayer service held at the Government House Chapel in Uyo, the governor described the development as a major financial breakthrough for the state’s revenue drive.

According to him, the TSA, which commenced about a month ago, has already begun to deliver positive results by blocking leakages and improving accountability in government finances.

“Since the Treasury Single Account started a month ago, it is heartwarming that our internally generated revenue has moved from N2 billion to N7 billion,” Eno said.

The governor urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, as well as financial managers in the state, to comply strictly with TSA regulations, warning that any act capable of undermining the policy would attract sanctions.

He noted that his administration remains committed to its ARISE Agenda, which he described as a practical development framework designed to meet the needs of the people.

Eno assured residents that government projects and programmes are being executed systematically to guarantee sustainable growth and strengthen the state’s economic base.

He also reaffirmed plans to further increase the state’s IGR in order to reduce dependence on federal allocations and improve long-term financial stability.

On the political atmosphere in the state, the governor called on stakeholders to avoid actions capable of threatening peace, stressing that his administration would not tolerate unnecessary political tension.

During the service, cleric Simeon Afolabi, founder of Firstlove Assembly, in a sermon titled “El-Shaddai, the God Almighty,” urged Christians to rely on divine guidance and trust in God for strength and wisdom.
