Osun to Launch Security Trust Fund in March, Says Governor Adeleke

The Osun State Government has announced that it will officially launch the Osun State Security Trust Fund in late March 2026, as Governor Ademola Adeleke highlights his administration’s equitable development record across the state.

Governor Adeleke made the announcement yesterday during the commissioning of a modern police station in Oyan town, built under the supervision of AIG (Dr.) Aderanti Kayode, noting that the new fund is aimed at mobilising resources to strengthen security in Osun.

The Governor emphasised the importance of public-private partnerships in maintaining both state and national security, adding that although Osun remains one of Nigeria’s safest states, its geographical location exposes it to potential security threats.

He stated, “Security challenges are intensifying at a time of limited financial capacity. Governments at all levels are under pressure to provide adequate equipment and logistics for security agencies. Many states have launched dedicated security trust funds or applied budgetary percentages to finance security. Osun is now joining that league.”

Adeleke further revealed that the enabling law for the trust fund has been reviewed and signed, incorporating modern trends and forward-looking provisions. He added, “We are engaging movers and shakers from the private sector to support this initiative. The fund will provide resources not only for conventional security agencies but also for Amotekun, hunters, and neighbourhood watch groups.”

On infrastructure, the Governor used the occasion to critique the opposition, accusing the Osun APC of downplaying the state’s development achievements. He pointed out ongoing road projects in Ila, Ikirun, Iwo, Osogbo, Ofatedo, Ido-Osun, Ile-Ife, Ilesa, and other areas, insisting that citizens are enjoying tangible improvements under his administration.

“The opposition continues to be blind to the huge progress across our towns and villages. While they indulge in self-denial, Osun people are experiencing a better, improved life under the Imole administration,” the Governor stated.
