The Osun State House of Assembly on Monday passed a bill amending sections of the state’s Local Government Law.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the bill, titled “Osun State Local Government Amendment No. 2 Bill 2026,” was passed following its third reading during plenary in Osogbo.
Earlier, the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, Mr Lawal Bamidele, presented and submitted the committee’s report on the proposed amendment with recommendations.
Speaker of the Assembly, Mr Adewale Egbedun, called for the adoption of the committee’s report, while the Majority Leader, Mr Babajide Adewumi, moved the motion for its adoption. Adewumi also moved the motion for the bill’s third reading, after which it was passed by the House.
Following the passage, Egbedun said clean copies of the bill would be transmitted to Governor Ademola Adeleke for assent.
The amendment seeks to revise provisions of the Osun State Local Government Law, Cap 72, Vol. IV, Laws of Osun State 2002, and address related matters.
