Ex-Pension Boss, Abdulrasheed Maina, Collapses in Abuja Office

Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman of the now-defunct Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), reportedly collapsed on Tuesday near his Abuja office.
His media aide, Emmanuel Nweke, said Maina lost consciousness after falling while attempting to enter the office premises. The fall, Nweke explained, was caused by complications from a long-standing, untreated knee injury.
“The incident occurred following complications arising from an untreated knee injury, which caused him to lose balance and fall, resulting in his head hitting the staircase,” Nweke said.
Medical personnel on site immediately administered first aid before Maina was rushed to a private hospital in Abuja, where he is now under close observation. Doctors reportedly advised that arrangements for an air ambulance be made if his condition does not stabilize soon.
The family has appealed to the public for prayers and respect for their privacy during this critical time.
Maina was recently released from Kuje Correctional Centre, having served a jail term for money laundering and pension-related fraud. In November 2021, a Federal High Court in Abuja convicted him of offenses involving N2 billion.
