Tinubu Celebrates Hausa People on World Hausa Day

President Bola Tinubu has described the Hausa people as “great pillars” who play a vital role in the unity and progress of Nigeria.

Tinubu stated this in a message posted on his X handle on Wednesday to commemorate Hausa Day, being celebrated at the historic Daura Palace.

The President said the Hausa language had flourished and become a major language of unity and commerce across the world.

“The Hausa people are great pillars that play a vital role in the unity and progress of Nigeria.

“The Hausa language, without doubt, has flourished and has become a major language of unity and commerce across the world.

“I congratulate the vast Hausa community on the occasion of Hausa Day, which is being celebrated at the historic Daura Palace today,” he said.

Hausa Day, also known as World Hausa Day or Ranar Hausa, is observed annually on August 26.

The observance began as a social media initiative by Nigerian journalist Abdulbaki Aliyu Jari to promote the use of Hausa online and raise awareness of its cultural significance.

It has since grown into an international celebration across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas, although it has not received formal recognition from the United Nations.

Hausa is one of Nigeria’s major languages and is among the most widely spoken languages in Africa and the world.
