Osun queen distributes food items to vulnerable families through Food Bank initiative

The Queen of Apomu Kingdom, Olori Janet Afolabi, has distributed food items to vulnerable women, children and other residents through her Food Bank initiative aimed at supporting households facing economic hardship.

 

The outreach was disclosed in a statement made available to journalists on Saturday.

 

Speaking during the programme, Olori Afolabi said the initiative was established to provide essential food items to struggling families and ensure that no household in Apomu goes hungry.

 

“No child should go to bed hungry. No child should remain awake because hunger has made him or her unable to sleep,” she said.

 

She explained that the initiative was designed to provide relief to residents most affected by the prevailing economic challenges.

 

Beneficiaries commended the gesture, describing the intervention as timely and impactful.

 

Also speaking, the Otun Iyalode of Apomu and Senior Palace Chief, Christiana Akinlabu, said the initiative reflected Olori Afolabi’s commitment to humanitarian service and her belief that access to food is a basic necessity, particularly for children.

 

Akinlabu added that the Food Bank had continued to support vulnerable members of the community while complementing efforts to improve residents’ welfare.

 

According to the statement, the Food Bank outreach, which began two years ago, forms part of Olori Afolabi’s humanitarian interventions aimed at supporting vulnerable households and promoting community development in Apomu.
