INEC extends Osun PVC collection deadline ahead of governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) at Registration Area (RA) centres across Osun State until Friday, July 31, 2026, following complaints from voters and heavy turnout at distribution centres.

 

The extension was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Head of Voter Education, Publicity, Gender and Inclusivity, Ariyo Rufus, on behalf of the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Oluwatoyin Babalola.

 

According to the commission, the initial PVC collection exercise, which began on July 22 and was scheduled to end on July 28, recorded the collection of 322,822 PVCs, representing 62 per cent of the available cards.

 

INEC said the additional three-day extension would allow more eligible voters to collect their PVCs ahead of the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election.

 

“Having regard to complaints and large crowds at collection centres as well as other difficulties, the Commission has approved the extension of PVC collection at Registration Areas to Friday, 31st July, 2026, to enable more eligible voters to exercise their civic right,” the statement read.

 

The electoral body also announced that PVC collection at its Local Government Area offices will now commence on August 1 and end on August 7, 2026, replacing the earlier schedule to accommodate the extension at the registration area level.

 

INEC urged all registered voters who are yet to collect their PVCs to take advantage of the extended period.

 

“Concerned registered voters are urged to take advantage of this window and collect their Permanent Voter Cards,” the commission stated.
