Matawalle conveyed his condolences to residents of Bungudu Local Government Area and other affected communities following the latest wave of attacks by terrorists.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Ahmad Dan-Wudil, the minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to restoring peace and strengthening security despite the recent escalation of violence in parts of the region.
He directed the leadership of Operation Fansan Yamma to sustain its offensive against terrorists in collaboration with other security agencies.
According to the statement, Matawalle instructed Operation Fansan Yamma and other military formations operating in Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina, Sokoto and Kaduna states to intensify operations by deploying all lawful and necessary measures to eliminate terrorist activities through targeted military action.
The minister also appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders and members of the public to support security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence on individuals collaborating with terrorists or supplying information used to carry out attacks.
He further directed senior military commanders in volatile areas to strengthen surveillance and increase patrols to identify and destroy terrorist camps, hideouts and safe havens before they can be used to launch further attacks.
Matawalle commended the Armed Forces and other security personnel for their professionalism and sacrifices, praising recent operations that led to the neutralisation of several high-profile and low-level terrorists in Gummi, Bukkuyum, Anka, Tsafe, Faskari and other locations.
He urged troops to sustain the momentum until terrorism is completely defeated across all affected parts of the country.
