Osun APC Knocks Adeleke Over IGP’s Allegation, Labels Governor ‘Lying Governor’

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a fresh attack on Governor Ademola Adeleke over allegations raised during the visit of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, accusing the governor of giving what it described as an evasive response to claims that wanted criminal suspects were being harboured within the Government House.

The party, in a statement signed by Mogaji Kola Olabisi, Osun APC Director of Media and Information, alleged that Governor Adeleke’s denial of the accusation amounted to an admission of inconsistency, insisting that the governor had “graduated from being a dancing governor and cursing governor to a lying governor.”

According to the APC, the IGP, during his stakeholders’ meeting ahead of the August 15 governorship election, informed the governor that security briefings from the state Commissioner of Police and the opposition party indicated that some individuals on the police wanted list were allegedly being shielded in the Government House.

The opposition party faulted Adeleke’s response, in which he denied the allegation and stated that even his children should be arrested and prosecuted if found to have violated the law. It argued that the governor failed to directly address the specific allegations raised against his administration.

The APC further claimed that some of the individuals mentioned in the security briefing had allegedly been seen with the governor at political and social events, while also referring to photographs and videos circulating on social media, which it alleged linked some wanted suspects to the Government House.

The party also alleged that some of the individuals had previously served as political appointees under the Adeleke administration, maintaining that the governor’s relationship with them undermined his denial.

Beyond the allegations against the governor, the APC accused members of the Accord Party, which it described as a deregistered political platform, of disrupting proceedings during the IGP’s visit through booing and hostile conduct towards security officials and opposition members.

The opposition party urged its supporters to remain peaceful and focused ahead of the August 15 governorship election, expressing confidence that the electorate would vote Governor Adeleke out of office.

Governor Adeleke has consistently denied allegations of harbouring criminal suspects and has maintained that anyone found culpable of criminal conduct, regardless of status or relationship, should face the full weight of the law. The allegations by the APC have not been proven in court.
