The decision was reached at an emergency meeting of the Progressive Governors’ Forum held on Tuesday at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja. The meeting was chaired by the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
Governors from several APC-controlled states attended the meeting.
Sources disclosed that some governors expressed dissatisfaction after discovering that candidates they had endorsed for National Assembly seats were omitted from the final list uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by the party’s National Working Committee. The development has sparked allegations that the list was altered before submission.
The APC has commenced uploading the names of its candidates to the INEC portal, beginning with those contesting National Assembly elections.
Speaking after the meeting, Governor Uzodimma confirmed that the governors would engage the party’s national leadership to address emerging issues and strengthen internal cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said the forum remained committed to working with Professor Yilwatda to ensure a united and formidable APC as preparations for the presidential and National Assembly elections gather momentum.
