Aderogba’s Death: Oke Rejects Political Allegations, Demands Thorough Police Probe

The Director-General of the Osun APC Campaign Council, Hon. Oluwole Oke, has faulted attempts to link him to the death of Ajayi Aderogba, describing allegations against him as premature, malicious and politically motivated.

In a statement obtained by Patriotic Insights News, the Senior Media Aide and Media/Publicity Directorate official for Oke, Mr. Omolebi-Sunday Segun Tunde, said the late Aderogba’s death was “too grave a matter for political exploitation,” insisting that those behind the killing must be identified through a transparent and professional investigation.

The statement was issued in response to allegations by the Imole Campaign Council, TICC, which reportedly called on Oke to produce an aide allegedly linked to the incident.

Oke’s camp said it was unfortunate that political actors were allegedly attempting to assume the roles of investigators, prosecutors, judges and juries by publicly indicting individuals who had not been charged or convicted by any court.

According to the statement, while the death of Aderogba remained painful and deserving of justice, public accusations and media trials could undermine ongoing investigations and heighten tension in affected communities.

“We reiterate our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and community of the late Ajayi Aderogba. Every life is precious, and any violent death is a tragedy that deserves a thorough, impartial and professional investigation,” the statement said.

It added that Oke could not be expected to carry out the responsibilities of security agencies, stressing that he was neither a law enforcement officer nor a judicial authority.

The campaign council said any person or group in possession of credible evidence concerning the incident should submit such evidence to the police and other relevant security agencies rather than resorting to what it described as public grandstanding.

The statement further dismissed insinuations of Oke’s complicity on the basis of allegations against a person purportedly associated with him, saying such claims were designed to score political points from a tragic incident.

It said: “Hon. Oluwole Oke has no reason whatsoever to shield any individual found culpable of criminal conduct. However, he firmly believes that every citizen, irrespective of political affiliation, is entitled to the presumption of innocence and the protection of due process under the law.”

The Oke campaign organisation called on the Osun State Police Command and other security agencies to conduct what it described as a comprehensive, transparent and unbiased investigation, free from political interference, media pressure and partisan influence.

It maintained that those responsible for Aderogba’s death must be brought to justice, but warned that justice could only be achieved through facts, evidence and lawful procedures.
