112 Kwara police officers complete combat operations training

No fewer than 112 junior police officers have completed a two-week Combat Operations Training Programme in Kwara State aimed at enhancing their tactical and operational capabilities.

The officers comprise 30 corporals and 82 constables.

In a statement issued on Friday in Ilorin, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said the training forms part of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu’s efforts to build a more professional, combat-ready and operationally effective police force.

According to her, the programme, held at the Police Training School in Ilorin, combined practical and classroom sessions to strengthen the tactical skills of rank-and-file officers.

The participants received training in tactical firearm handling, combat operations, rescue techniques, tactical movement, rules of engagement, use of force, ambush and counter-ambush operations, officer safety and other modern policing strategies.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Adekimi Ojo, commended the officers for their discipline, coordination and improved performance throughout the training.

He said the programme aligns with the Inspector-General’s vision of promoting intelligence-led policing, improving operational effectiveness and strengthening the capacity of officers to respond to emerging security threats.

Ojo urged the participants to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the training to enhance public safety and support crime-fighting efforts across the state.
