Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has received supporters of former APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, into the Accord Party ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
The defectors, including former commissioners Folorunso Bamisayemi and Yemi Lawal, as well as former Special Adviser on Education, Jamiu Olawumi, pledged to work for Adeleke’s re-election.
Speaking during the flag-off of his governorship campaign in Osogbo, Adeleke dismissed concerns over the recent Federal High Court judgment deregistering five political parties, insisting he would remain on the ballot.
The governor expressed confidence in securing a second term and urged his supporters to remain focused on the election.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Folorunso Bamisayemi said they left the APC because the party failed to field Senator Omisore as its governorship candidate.
He added that the group decided to support Adeleke’s re-election, describing the governor as a formidable political force in Osun State.
