Olympic Qualifiers: Comoros Set Up Super Falcons Clash After 30–0 Aggregate Victory Over Sudan

Comoros have booked a second-round clash with Nigeria’s Super Falcons in the qualifiers for the women’s football event of the 2028 Olympic Games after recording a remarkable 30–0 aggregate victory over Sudan.

The Coelacanths secured a 17–0 win in the first leg on June 3 before completing the rout with a 13–0 victory in the return leg played five days later.

In the first encounter, Comoros opened the scoring in the eighth minute and went on to dominate the match from start to finish, with nine different players finding the net in a display of overwhelming attacking superiority.

They maintained the momentum in the second leg, scoring three goals before halftime and adding 10 more in the second half to complete one of the most emphatic victories in recent African women’s football qualifying history.

The result sets up a meeting with the Super Falcons, who are expected to be strong favourites heading into the tie.

Nigeria’s women’s national team recently enjoyed a successful outing in a two-match friendly series against Senegal, winning 2–1 in the first game before securing a 3–0 victory in the second match at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State.

The Super Falcons, under the guidance of head coach Justine Madugu, will be aiming to progress further in the qualification campaign as they seek a place at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, United States.

The second-round qualifiers are scheduled to take place between October 5 and October 13, 2026.

At the end of the qualification series, two African teams will secure places in the women’s football tournament at the 2028 Olympics.
