The music executive made the remark during a playful exchange with fans on Instagram after a follower described him as an “African treasure” who no longer belongs solely to Nigerians.
The fan had written: “Don Jazzy at this point is an African treasure. Yes, he belongs to all of us now, not just you Nigerians.”
Responding, Don Jazzy agreed that he often feels a strong connection to different African countries, including Ghana, South Africa and Uganda.
“You are actually not wrong. Sometimes, I feel like I’m Ghanaian, sometimes South African. Sometimes I feel like I’m Ugandan even though I haven’t been to Uganda, and I hear it’s hot there,” he said.
The music producer then shifted the conversation to his love life, joking that his search for a wife in Nigeria might push him toward East Africa.
“I heard that the babes there are nice. If you are from Uganda and you are a babe, do you girls like me there? Maybe I should come to Uganda since I did not find a wife in Nigeria. Maybe I should go and find a wife in Uganda or Tanzania,” he added.
The post quickly triggered reactions online, with fans from Uganda, Tanzania and other African countries engaging him in playful responses.
Don Jazzy, 43, has long been a subject of public curiosity over his personal life. In 2021, he revealed that he was previously married to Michelle Jackson at the age of 20, a marriage that lasted about two years.
He later disclosed that his deep commitment to music contributed to the collapse of the relationship.
