Singer Niniola announces husband’s death

Nigerian afro-house singer, Niniola Apata, has announced the death of her husband, Michael Ndika.

The Grammy-nominated singer disclosed the development in a series of emotional posts shared on her Instagram Story in the early hours of Wednesday.

“God took him,” she wrote.

“My husband died,” she added in another post.

In a third post, the singer wrote: “God took him. 13 years. 13 f***ing years.”

Each post was accompanied by a photograph of the singer and her husband.

Ndika was the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a multimedia platform focused on afro-house and contemporary African music.

The circumstances surrounding his death were not immediately disclosed.

Niniola has largely kept her private life away from public attention and social media.

The 39-year-old singer rose to prominence after emerging as one of the top contestants on Project Fame West Africa in 2013.

She gained wider recognition with her 2017 hit single Maradona, which earned international attention and recognition from global music stars including DJ Snake, Drake, Timbaland and Beyoncé.
