UNIOSUN appoints BOVAS boss, Victoria Samson, as Chancellor

The management of Osun State University, UNIOSUN, has officially presented the instrument of appointment to the Group Managing Director of BOVAS & Company Ltd, Mrs Victoria Samson, as the new Chancellor of the institution.

 

The presentation was made on Thursday in Ibadan, Oyo State, by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Odunayo Adeboye, on behalf of the Osun State Government and the university’s Governing Council.

 

According to Adeboye, the appointment reflects Samson’s achievements in business leadership, philanthropy and contributions to national development.

 

“The appointment reflected Samson’s achievements in business leadership, philanthropy and national development,” the vice-chancellor said.

 

“The institution and the state government are optimistic that Mama Samson’s leadership and experience would further strengthen the university’s global relevance and academic advancement.”

 

Reading the appointment letter signed by Governor Ademola Adeleke, Adeboye disclosed that Samson’s appointment took effect from May 10, 2026, for an initial term of five years.

 

The letter stated that her appointment was based on her accomplishments in business, humanitarian service and support for national growth.

 

It added that, as Chancellor, she would serve as the ceremonial head of the university while providing moral, strategic and inspirational support towards achieving the institution’s vision.

 

Adeboye also revealed that the university would soon announce the date for Samson’s formal investiture ceremony.

 

The vice-chancellor commended Governor Adeleke for prioritising merit and competence in appointments concerning the university and the state.

 

He noted that the governor had consistently encouraged the management to appoint individuals capable of contributing meaningfully to the growth of the institution without political interference.

 

Responding, Samson expressed appreciation to the state government, governing council and management of the university for the confidence reposed in her.

 

“I thank the governor, the governing council and the university management for this honour. I appreciate the confidence reposed in me,” she said.

 

She also pledged to support the continued growth and development of Osun State University during her tenure as Chancellor.
