Adeleke Summons Emergency Security Council Meeting Over Alleged APC Thuggery in Osun

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has summoned an emergency meeting of the State Security Council on Monday following fresh attacks and destruction of public properties by suspected thugs allegedly linked to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The meeting, scheduled to hold at the Governor’s Office in Osogbo, will be attended by heads of security agencies and service commanders across the state.

A statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, said the emergency session would focus on ending what the government described as rising cases of politically motivated thuggery and attacks on public assets.

According to the statement, Adeleke expressed concern over the spate of violence and questioned the response of law enforcement agencies to the incidents.

“I summon this emergency meeting to address this matter of urgent public importance. We must question why hoodlums attack public properties while law enforcement agents refuse to make arrests or prevent such threats to public peace,” the governor was quoted as saying.

The governor directed the Security Council to develop a comprehensive containment strategy aimed at preventing future occurrences and restoring public confidence in security agencies.

“The security council is to fashion out a containment strategy to prevent future occurrence. We have a sacred duty to sustain the confidence of the public in the security agencies,” Adeleke added.

The development comes amid heightened political tension in parts of the state following recent reports of attacks on public facilities and political clashes.
