ADC Confident of Victory in Osun Governorship Poll

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in the forthcoming August 15 election in Osun State, Dr. Najeem Salaam, has declared that the party is well positioned to emerge victorious at the polls.

Salaam also assured residents of the state of purposeful and people-oriented governance rooted in progressive ideals if elected governor.

The former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly made the declaration during the ADC general meeting held in Ejigbo Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement issued on Saturday, Salaam, accompanied by his running mate, Temitope Agiri, urged party members and supporters to remain steadfast and committed to the collective mission of “rescuing Osun State” through responsible leadership and good governance.

He described the ADC as the most credible alternative capable of driving meaningful development in both Osun State and Nigeria.

“Our party continues to enjoy massive acceptance, goodwill and support from the people of Osun State. With God on our side and the growing support base across the state, we are optimistic of victory in the governorship election,” Salaam said.

He further noted that the ADC was founded on progressive principles and would champion issue-based campaigns devoid of bitterness, hatred and political rancour.

“We are committed to restoring decency and dignity to political campaigns in a way that will renew public confidence in democracy and governance,” he added.

Reaffirming that the ADC remained a strong contender in the 2026 governorship race, Salaam assured the electorate that the party would not disappoint the people if given the mandate to govern.

Earlier, the Ejigbo Local Government Chairman of the ADC, Ganiyu Abeni, expressed confidence in the party’s readiness and unity ahead of the election, saying its grassroots structure remained formidable.

Similarly, the Osun State Chairman of the ADC, Isa Adesiji, described Salaam as a competent, humble and credible candidate, urging residents of the state to support the party at the polls.

The Osun governorship election is scheduled for August 15, 2026. The incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, is seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party, while Bola Oyebamiji is contesting on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
