Wike’s ally Chinda cleared for Rivers APC governorship primary

Kingsley Chinda, an ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has been screened and cleared by the All Progressives Congress ahead of the party’s governorship primary election in Rivers State.

Chinda, who represents Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency and serves as Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, recently joined the Rivers governorship race.

He is expected to contest the APC ticket alongside incumbent Governor Siminalayi Fubara and other aspirants ahead of the 2027 election.

Although Wike has yet to publicly endorse any candidate, reports indicate that Chinda could receive the minister’s backing if he emerges winner of the APC primary scheduled for May 21.

Wike had earlier stated that Fubara would not secure a second term, adding that he would unveil his preferred governorship candidate at the appropriate time.
