The Federal Controller of Works in Ogun State, Olayiwola Komolafe, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
He said the closure followed a directive by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, instructing the contractor, Messrs Arab Contractors, to resume work on critical sections of the highway to ensure timely completion of the project.
According to Komolafe, the affected sections include the stretch from Ikorodu Roundabout to Sabo Junction in Lagos, and from Cement to Coca-Cola inward Sagamu.
He explained that traffic from Ikorodu to Sagamu would be diverted through the construction corridors under a counterflow arrangement.
Komolafe added that the construction work would last for three months to allow for execution and curing of the rigid pavement.
He said officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority would be deployed to manage traffic during the period.
The controller appealed to motorists to cooperate with traffic officials and law enforcement agencies throughout the exercise.
He also expressed regret over the inconvenience the reconstruction work might cause road users.
