Osun guber: APC seeks CAN support, promises inclusive governance

The Osun State All Progressives Congress Campaign Council has solicited the support and prayers of the Christian Association of Nigeria ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

“We approached this meeting with sincerity and a clear sense of purpose—to seek prayers, build trust, and foster collaboration with the Christian community. We remain committed to an inclusive administration that will reflect the interests of all citizens of Osun State,” — Omolebi-Sunday Segun Tunde. The Director-General of the council, Oluwole Oke, made the appeal during a meeting with CAN leaders, where he reiterated the party’s commitment to inclusive development and strategic collaboration.

Oke said the engagement was part of efforts to commit the party’s candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, to God, while strengthening ties with the Christian community.

He noted that the APC-led Federal Government had recorded progress in infrastructure, power sector reforms and revenue generation, adding that Osun would benefit from aligning with the centre.

The APC chieftain said the state was in need of potable water, good roads, improved economic conditions and better security, assuring that the party would address the challenges if elected.

He described Oyebamiji as a competent administrator with the capacity to deliver good governance and ensure fairness in resource distribution.

Oke also promised that the Christian community would not be sidelined, stressing that inclusivity would remain a priority.

In his response, the Osun CAN Chairman, Rev. Dr. Adegboyega Adeleke, commended the APC delegation for what he described as a mature engagement devoid of political hostility.

He, however, called for further discussions to better understand the party’s plans for Christians in the state.

Adeleke urged political actors to maintain peace and unity before, during and after the election.

He also called for proper recognition of Christian institutions, particularly the Christian Welfare Board, in governance.

Oke assured the CAN leadership that their concerns would be addressed, adding that their proposals would be considered in shaping the party’s agenda.
