Akpoti-Uduaghan declares re-election bid, calls for PDP unity in Kogi

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) has officially declared her intention to seek re-election for a second term in the Senate, citing extensive consultations and growing support from her constituents.

The announcement was made at the Kogi Central Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Stakeholders’ Meeting, where party leaders and members gathered to discuss the future of the party in the district.

In a statement released by her media team in Abuja on Monday, the senator said her decision followed months of encouragement from residents across the five local government areas in Kogi Central.

“After due consultations and encouragement from my husband, I have accepted your calls to re-contest for a second term as your senator,” she said.

Akpoti-Uduaghan also used the occasion to call for unity within the PDP, urging stakeholders to set aside differences and work towards reconciliation ahead of future elections.

“This is the time to bring everyone back home. We must reconcile with those who may have had issues, for the betterment of our party and success in the elections ahead,” she added.

Party leaders at the event praised her performance in office. The Kogi Central PDP Zonal Chairman, Hon. Anthony Akuvada, described her as a “transformational figure” whose representation had positively impacted the district.

“Distinguished Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has redefined representation in Kogi Central. Her performance has been exemplary, from infrastructural development to human capital empowerment,” Akuvada said.

He also commended her approach to governance, noting her accessibility and engagement with constituents.

Akpoti-Uduaghan’s first term has featured interventions in education, youth and women empowerment, and infrastructural advocacy, which her supporters say have strengthened her political base.

She also expressed appreciation to her husband, High Chief Emmanuel Oritsejolomi Uduaghan, the Alema of Warri Kingdom, describing him as a key pillar of support in her political journey.
