Security Boost in Osun as Deji Adeleke Drops N500m at Fund Launch

Billionaire businessman, Deji Adeleke, on Thursday donated N500 million to the Osun State Security Trust Fund, unveiled by Governor Ademola Adeleke in Osogbo.

The donation was announced during the official launch of the fund, with the state government also committing N300 million as take-off support for the initiative.

In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke’s contribution was described as a significant boost to the trust fund, noting that several corporate organisations also made donations at the event.

Speaking at the launch, Governor Adeleke said the fund was designed to strengthen security infrastructure across the state, insisting that the initiative was not politically motivated but aimed at protecting lives and property.

According to him, the trust fund would support the provision of modern security equipment, including refurbished Armoured Personnel Carriers and patrol vehicles for security agencies operating in the state.

“This initiative is neither political nor self-serving. It is a necessary step to secure our people. Only an irresponsible government will abandon a public-private partnership that is working effectively in states like Lagos, Kaduna and Rivers,” the governor said.

He further disclosed plans to establish a modern situation room equipped with real-time CCTV surveillance, alongside the continuous provision of operational tools for security operatives.

Assuring residents of accountability, the governor stated that the fund, being regulated by law, would be managed with transparency, strict adherence to due process and effective oversight.

Earlier, the Secretary of the Security Trust Fund, Femi Oyedipe, said the initiative would help tackle prevailing security challenges by providing critical equipment and logistics for security agencies, while urging stakeholders to support the scheme.
