Ekiti Politician Dumps ADC for PDP, Targets Senate Seat in 2027

A former chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ekiti State, Ayodele David-Adesua, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as part of moves to actualise his senatorial ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

David-Adesua, who previously contested the governorship under the ADC in 2018 and 2026, is now eyeing the PDP ticket to represent Ekiti North Senatorial District.

In a resignation letter dated April 21, 2026, addressed to the ADC Chairman of Ijesa Isu Ward 7 in Ikole Local Government Area, he announced his immediate exit from the party, describing the decision as final and guided by his political aspirations.

The former ADC stalwart noted that he had made significant contributions to the party’s growth across all levels, including securing office spaces in the 12 wards of Ikole LGA and providing financial support for its operations.

Speaking with journalists, David-Adesua confirmed his defection, stating that the move was driven by the need to align with a more viable platform to deliver democratic dividends to his constituents.

According to him, “I took this step to better position myself to serve the people of Ekiti North. I require a more effective political platform to achieve that goal.”

His defection comes amid ongoing political realignments in Ekiti State, as stakeholders reposition ahead of the June 2026 governorship election and the 2027 general polls.
