Osun LG Funds Row: APC Blasts Adeleke Over ‘Salary Sabotage’, Alleges Withholding of Key Documents

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of being responsible for the non-payment of salaries and allowances of local government workers, alleging that he deliberately withheld critical financial documents needed to process payments.

The party, through its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, said in a statement on Saturday that Adeleke was “playing dirty politics with the livelihoods of grassroots workers by refusing to release essential documents required for salary disbursement.”

The APC described as “false and misleading” the governor’s recent claim that opposition elements were responsible for the alleged diversion of federal allocations meant for local government councils in the state.

It insisted that the Court of Appeal-reinstated local government chairmen have continued to receive federal allocations and deploy them for developmental projects across their respective councils, including road grading, security support initiatives, and welfare packages for residents.

According to the party, the failure to pay primary school teachers, health workers and other local government employees was directly linked to the state government’s refusal to release electronic salary vouchers, actuarial valuation registers, and other audited financial records.

The statement further explained that the actuarial register contains verified entitlements of workers and pensioners, which could be funded and transferred to Pension Fund Administrators if approved by the state government.

The APC maintained that workers’ leave bonuses, cooperative deductions, and union check-off dues could also not be processed due to the alleged withholding of necessary documentation.

It called on residents of the state to hold the governor accountable, arguing that the continued delay in salary payments was avoidable.

The party added that local government officials were ready to settle all outstanding entitlements once the state government releases the required documents.

The APC also accused the governor of attempting to politicise issues relating to workers’ welfare, warning that such actions could further erode public trust in the administration.

It urged the governor to “stop spreading falsehoods” and allow due process to take its course in order to alleviate the suffering of affected workers across the state.
