The State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, said the operation followed credible intelligence on a criminal syndicate operating within and beyond the state.
He disclosed that the suspects were apprehended before carrying out the attack, with items recovered including bottles, electronic devices, cash, and other materials believed to be linked to explosive fabrication.
According to him, investigations revealed the group had rented an apartment in the Oke-Odu area of Akure, which was used as a base, and a document outlining potential targets was also found.
Lawal said the timely intervention prevented possible loss of lives and destruction of property, adding that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full network and possible sponsors.
In a related development, the command also arrested 10 suspected cultists during a separate operation in Ondo Town, including a wanted kingpin linked to previous violent incidents.
The police reassured residents of continued efforts to maintain security and urged the public to support law enforcement with credible information.
