Ogun approves weekly day off, ₦10,000 transport allowance for workers
The Ogun State Government has approved a weekly day off and a ₦10,000 monthly transport allowance for civil servants for three months, beginning from April 2026.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya.
He said the measures were introduced to cushion the impact of rising fuel prices and increased transportation costs affecting workers across the state.
According to him, Governor Dapo Abiodun approved “one day off duty in a week” for workers, in addition to the ₦10,000 monthly transport allowance as a palliative for three months.
He noted that essential workers, including medical personnel, judicial staff, teachers, security operatives, and heads of departments, are exempted from the weekly day-off arrangement but will still benefit from the transport allowance.
Onasanya added that accounting officers in Ministries, Departments and Agencies will determine the specific day off for eligible staff to ensure smooth service delivery.
He commended the governor for the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention to support workers and boost productivity.
