The Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission has assured residents of improved electricity service delivery, urging stronger collaboration between distribution companies and consumers.

Speaking at a town hall meeting in Nnewi, the Managing Director of the commission, Frank Okafor, appealed for patience amid current power challenges, expressing confidence that steady supply would be achieved soon.

He said ongoing public consultations on draft electricity regulations would help address issues such as energy theft, vandalism, and estimated billing, while shaping a more efficient electricity market in the state.

According to Okafor, the commission—established under the Anambra State Electricity Law, 2025—has the mandate to regulate electricity generation, distribution, and supply, as well as protect consumer rights and promote investment.

He added that ASERC is also encouraging innovation in renewable energy to expand access across both urban and rural communities.

The commission reaffirmed its commitment to building a transparent and sustainable power sector that supports economic growth and improves residents’ quality of life.
