In a statement issued on Thursday, the party described the claim as false, misleading, and without any official backing.
The statement, signed by the Sokoto State Chairman and Chairman of the Northern Labour Party Chairmen Forum, Abubakar Yawale, clarified that the party had not taken any decision to support Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Yawale also addressed reports attributed to Abayomi Arabambi, stating that he had been expelled from the party and lacks the authority to speak on its behalf.
“The Labour Party has not taken any decision to support President Tinubu’s second-term ambition. Such a claim is false, unfounded, and should be completely disregarded,” the statement read.
The party further stressed that only its recognised leadership and official organs are empowered to make binding decisions, adding that its structure remains intact despite ongoing internal disputes.
On the political future of its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, the party noted that he remains free to pursue his ambitions on any platform of his choice.
It also maintained that it has credible aspirants capable of contesting future elections under its banner.
The Labour Party urged the public to disregard the alleged endorsement, describing it as baseless and a product of misinformation.
