Guardiola’s City Crush Chelsea 3–0 at Stamford Bridge, Close Gap on Arsenal

Manchester City delivered a commanding second-half performance on Sunday to defeat Chelsea 3–0 at Stamford Bridge, tightening the Premier League title race and reducing Arsenal’s lead at the top.

The reigning champions, Manchester City, were held in a cagey first half by Chelsea, with both sides struggling to create clear chances. Chelsea briefly thought they had taken the lead, but the effort was ruled out for offside after Marc Cucurella strayed early in the build-up.

After the restart, Pep Guardiola’s side stepped up the intensity and broke the deadlock in the 51st minute. Nico O’Reilly rose highest to head home a precise cross from Ryan Cherki, giving City the advantage.

The visitors doubled their lead six minutes later when Marc Guehi struck a low drive from a corner kick, marking his first Premier League goal since joining the club in January.

Chelsea’s resistance finally collapsed in the 68th minute after a defensive error from Moisés Caicedo, which was punished ruthlessly by Jérémy Doku, who pounced on the loose ball and fired home to seal the win.

City’s victory extends their unbeaten league run to nine matches and maintains their strong record against Chelsea, having now gone 10 games unbeaten in the fixture.

The result leaves Manchester City on 64 points from 31 matches, cutting Arsenal’s lead at the top of the English Premier League to six points, with a game in hand still to play.

Chelsea remain sixth on the table, seven points adrift of a Champions League qualification spot, increasing pressure on their top-four ambitions as the season enters its final stretch.
