APC Faults Olajengbesi Over Petition Against Oke, Calls Action Misguided

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised House of Representatives aspirant for Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency under the Accord Party, Pelumi Olajengbesi, over a petition he reportedly submitted to the United States Embassy in Nigeria against Hon. Wole Oke, the Director-General of the party’s AMBO Campaign Committee.

Olajengbesi was said to have alleged in the petition that Oke made statements capable of inciting violence.

However, the APC dismissed the allegation, describing the petition as baseless, frivolous, and an abuse of appropriate channels.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, the party maintained that Hon. Oke’s remarks were politically harmless and should not have attracted such international attention.

The statement further defended Oke, noting that he remains a respected lawmaker and a key figure within the party’s campaign structure, both in his constituency and beyond.

According to the APC, the decision to escalate the matter to a foreign diplomatic mission reflects poor judgement.

“For anyone who has followed the persistent attacks against the Director-General of the AMBO Campaign Committee, it is clear that this is an unnecessary distraction targeted at a committed public servant,” the statement read.

The party further argued that Nigeria remains a sovereign nation, stressing that any perceived grievances should be addressed through lawful institutions such as security agencies and the courts, rather than foreign embassies.

“It is inappropriate to involve foreign diplomats in matters that can be resolved within our legal system. This petition reflects a lack of understanding of proper procedure,” the statement added.

The APC urged Olajengbesi to reconsider his approach and focus on constructive political engagement rather than what it described as distractions.

The development adds to growing political tensions within the state ahead of the 2026 elections.
