The Osun State Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress has visited elder statesman, Alhaji Shuaibu Afolabi Oyedokun, at his residence in Inisa, as part of consultations ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The Media Office of the Director-General of the council, Hon. Oluwole Oke, through its spokesperson, Omolebi-Sunday Segun Tunde, said the visit was aimed at seeking prayers, blessings and strategic guidance from the party chieftain.
According to the statement, the engagement formed part of ongoing efforts by the council to consult widely with party elders as preparations intensify for the forthcoming poll.
It added that the visit followed an earlier meeting with another prominent leader of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, in continuation of its outreach to key stakeholders within the progressive family.
Speaking during the visit, Oke emphasised the importance of consulting experienced leaders, noting that political success is often anchored on wisdom, humility and respect for institutional memory.
“At a defining moment such as this, it is both wise and necessary to seek guidance from those whose lives embody experience, discipline and foresight. Baba Oyedokun represents a rich legacy of progressive leadership and unwavering commitment to our shared ideals,” he said.
Oke stated that the council sought Oyedokun’s moral and spiritual support for the success of the APC candidate, Alhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, in the election.
The delegation included Prince Bayo Adeleke, Prince Thomas Ogungbamigbe, Rt. Hon. Adejare Bello, Prince Femi Kujembola, Hon. Asifat Akinola and Hon. Adebisi Obawale, among others.
Also present were principal secretaries within the campaign structure, including Prince Ibitoye Kilomodemo, Hon. Kamil Oyedele, Hon. Tunde Faleye and Hon. Oluwasegun Oluwadare, as well as the immediate past Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye.
In his remarks, Adejare Bello thanked Oyedokun for his guidance and prayers, while offering prayers for continued strength and grace upon the elder statesman.
Responding, Oyedokun commended the delegation for the visit and assured them of his support and guidance.
The council said the visit underscored its commitment to inclusive consultation and unity as it works towards electoral success in the state.
