The high-powered delegation, led by the Director-General of the Campaign Council, Hon. Oluwole Oke, visited Akande at his Ila-Orangun residence, underscoring what party insiders described as a critical step in rallying the influence of founding leaders ahead of the poll.
Addressing journalists after the closed-door meeting, Oke said the visit was rooted in the recognition of the pivotal role elder statesmen play in shaping political outcomes, particularly at defining moments.
“In times like this, consultation is not optional but essential. Baba Akande embodies experience, discipline and foresight. His counsel remains invaluable as we prepare for this crucial election,” he said.
Oke noted that the Council was deliberate in aligning its strategies with tested political principles that have delivered victories in the past, stressing that humility and respect for institutional memory would guide its approach.
The APC governorship candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, who later joined the meeting, expressed gratitude to Akande for his support, assuring party faithful of a united front going into the election.
Sources at the meeting disclosed that discussions centred on strategy, party cohesion and pathways to reclaiming Osun State, as the APC intensifies its campaign machinery.
Also present were the National Secretary of the party, Sen. Ajibola Basiru, and Sen. Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, a development seen as reinforcing the weight of the consultation.
Akande, in his remarks, was said to have offered candid advice drawn from decades of political experience and gave his blessings to the Council, urging unity and strategic discipline among party stakeholders.
The meeting ended on a warm note, with the elder statesman hosting the delegation, in what observers described as a symbolic show of solidarity.
Meanwhile, the Media Office of the Director-General, in a statement signed by Omolebi-Sunday Segun Tunde, said the visit highlights the Council’s resolve to build consensus, strengthen internal cohesion and prosecute the election with a unified front.
