Daniel Marks 70: Adeboye Urges Leaders to Uphold Integrity, Accountability

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), on Monday called on leaders across all sectors to lead with accountability, integrity, and wisdom.

Delivering a sermon at a service in honour of former Ogun State Governor and current Senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, who turned 70, Adeboye described the occasion as a celebration of a life dedicated to service.

“People like him are rare. He does not make promises he cannot fulfil, and when he makes one, he keeps it,” Adeboye said, highlighting Daniel’s consistent display of honesty and commitment in both public office and personal engagements, particularly with the church.

Drawing lessons from Psalm 90:12, the cleric emphasised the importance of being mindful of one’s days. He said true wisdom begins with the fear of God and stressed that knowledge without proper application could have serious consequences, giving the example of a driver ignoring a warning sign.

“God does not measure life in years but in days. Anyone who does not fear God is a fool. Wisdom is the correct application of knowledge. Every faith, including our forefathers’ beliefs, teaches accountability. None of us knows how soon our journey will end, but we must all prepare,” he added.

Represented by Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Governor Dapo Abiodun congratulated Daniel on his milestone birthday, describing him as a distinguished public servant whose tenure as governor laid a solid foundation for growth and development in Ogun State. He commended Daniel’s continued service as a senator, noting his dedication to legislation and constituency development.

In his response, Daniel expressed gratitude to God for reaching 70, acknowledging the fleeting nature of life. “I feel fulfilled, happy, and appreciated. Today is one of my happiest days,” he said, urging Nigerians to remain hopeful and support the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
