APC chieftain tells ADC to resolve internal crisis, stop blaming Tinubu

A chieftain of All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has cautioned the leadership of African Democratic Congress against blaming President Bola Tinubu for the internal crisis rocking the party.

Speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Monday, Oyintiloye said the party’s leadership should be courageous enough to tell Nigerians the truth about its challenges rather than linking the President to issues arising from its internal disputes.

He stated that Tinubu was neither responsible for the court decision directing the party to revert to its pre-merger executives pending the determination of a suit filed at the Federal High Court by one of its members, nor involved in the legal processes surrounding the matter.

According to him, “The ADC should put its house in order and stop blaming President Tinubu for its crisis. The President is a democrat who does not need to destabilise any political party to secure victory in 2027.

“Tinubu is not a member of the court that delivered the judgment, and he has no reason to interfere in internal party matters.”

Oyintiloye also noted that the position of Independent National Electoral Commission not to recognise any faction of the ADC until pending litigations are resolved was based strictly on judicial pronouncements and not influenced by the Presidency.

He advised political actors to operate within the law and avoid actions capable of creating avoidable legal setbacks.

“Resorting to blackmail will not save the ADC. The party must return to the drawing board and reposition itself if it wants to remain relevant in Nigeria’s political space,” he said.

On claims that Nigeria may be drifting towards a one-party state, Oyintiloye dismissed the allegation, stressing that with 21 registered political parties in the country, such assertions were unfounded.

He maintained that opposition parties should focus on strengthening their internal structures rather than spreading what he described as false narratives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The APC chieftain added that no amount of political attacks would stop President Tinubu from securing victory in the 2027 presidential election.
