Omokri, in a statement titled “INEC De-registration: ADC Professional Party Jumpers Have Only Themselves to Blame,” described the faction led by David Mark as politically reckless, alleging that the group created the legal and structural challenges now confronting the party.
According to him, the faction’s response to the interpretation of the March 12, 2026 judgment of the Court of Appeal failed to offer any convincing legal argument, despite publicly rejecting INEC’s position. He argued that if the group intends to challenge the decision, it must do so strictly within the framework of the law ⚖️.
He further accused the faction of attempting to whip up public sentiment against INEC, warning that such moves could undermine confidence in the nation’s electoral process.
“You cannot throw the baby away with the bathwater,” he said, stressing that the current predicament of the party was avoidable and had long been foreseeable.
Omokri also claimed that the movement into ADC by some political actors was driven more by political convenience than democratic conviction, adding that those involved effectively “purchased a faulty political platform” and must now either repair it or seek alternatives.
He maintained that with less than a year to the next general elections, building a fresh political structure from the ground up may be difficult .
The controversy follows mounting reactions over INEC’s position on the legal status of ADC, a development that has continued to generate debate within opposition circles across the country .
