Imansuagbon made the appeal in Ewohimi, Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State, while receiving defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the weekend.
The former Labour Party governorship aspirant in the 2024 Edo election urged citizens to begin early mobilisation against Tinubu’s second-term ambition, describing the move as necessary to “reclaim the mandate of the people.”
He argued that allowing the current administration to secure another term would worsen the country’s socio-economic and political challenges.
“Nigerians at both the state and federal levels must prepare to decisively reject the failed leadership of the present APC-led governments,” he said.
Imansuagbon also extended his criticism to the state level, urging voters in Edo to resist any attempt by Governor Monday Okpebholo to secure a second term, insisting that electoral outcomes should reflect the will of the people rather than political pressure.
He dismissed claims that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) could rely on its control of several states to guarantee victory, noting that political dominance does not automatically translate to grassroots support.
According to him, the growing influx of members into the ADC signals increasing public confidence in the party as a viable alternative ahead of the 2027 elections.
Also speaking at the event, former Edo State Governor and ADC National Legal Adviser, Prof. Oserhimen Osunbor, commended both new and existing members for their commitment to strengthening the party.
Osunbor cautioned against assumptions of electoral certainty, stating that internal party dynamics and provisions of the Electoral Act could significantly influence outcomes.
He maintained that political power ultimately rests with the electorate, stressing that voters would determine the direction of future elections.
The decampees, led by a former PDP chieftain, Chief Clifford Eineh, were described as part of a broader realignment within Nigeria’s opposition space as parties reposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
