The family confirmed her death in a statement issued the same day, noting that she had been battling age-related health challenges which worsened in recent times.
Sources close to the family disclosed that her condition reportedly deteriorated further following reports of her son’s detention by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).
It was also gathered that El-Rufai had been actively involved in managing his mother’s health prior to her death.
The family prayed for the repose of her soul, asking God to forgive her shortcomings and grant her eternal rest.
