The suspension was announced by the leadership of Ward 4, New Layout, in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.
In a suspension letter dated March 16, jointly signed by the ward chairman, Mr Richard Ibani Benstowe, and secretary, Donald Jumbo, the party accused Dagogo of actions that contravene provisions of the APC Constitution.
Reading the notice in a video circulated on social media, Benstowe said Dagogo’s conduct violated Article 21.2 (I), (II), and (VII) of the party’s 2022 constitution as amended.
He alleged that Dagogo engaged in activities capable of bringing the party into disrepute, including making unguarded statements, disobeying party directives, and demeaning party leaders.
“Following the resolution of members and leaders of Ward 4 at an emergency meeting held on March 16, 2026, you are hereby suspended indefinitely from the APC on grounds of breach of the provisions of our party’s constitution,” the statement read.
The ward leadership also urged the state party structure to endorse the suspension and take necessary actions.
However, the suspension is believed to be connected to Dagogo’s legal action against the party over his alleged exclusion from contesting the position of National Vice Chairman (South-South).
Dagogo had protested his exclusion from the South-South zonal congress, despite reportedly paying N5.1 million for the nomination form, and had sought redress through the courts.
Sources within the party indicated that his refusal to withdraw the lawsuit may have influenced the decision to suspend him.
The development adds to growing tensions within the APC in Rivers State ahead of the party’s national convention and the 2027 general elections.
