APC Constitutes Media Team Ahead of 2026 National Convention

The Federal Government on Monday inaugurated the Media and Publicity Subcommittee for the 2026 All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention, tasking members with ensuring effective communication and transparent dissemination of information ahead of the party’s landmark gathering.

At the inauguration, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, who co-chairs the committee, described the convention as a major milestone for the ruling party. Speaking virtually from the United Kingdom, Idris said the convention would provide an opportunity for the APC to strengthen internal democracy and reaffirm its commitment to national development.

“This convention is a significant milestone in the life of our great party. It is a platform to consolidate our vision for a united, prosperous, and progressive Nigeria,” Idris said.

The minister highlighted that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is implementing reforms aimed at repositioning the country for sustainable growth and long-term development. He also reiterated the APC’s commitment to supporting the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the upcoming convention would showcase the party’s unity and discipline.

He emphasized that the committee’s role extends beyond publicity, encompassing accurate information dissemination, media coordination, transparency, and projecting the convention’s activities both locally and internationally.

“Your mandate involves content creation, media relations, media planning and buying, liaison with other sub-committees, report writing and documentation, media monitoring, and overall coordination of all media activities for the convention,” Idris stated.

The minister urged committee members to approach their duties with professionalism, creativity, and a strong sense of duty, stressing that effective use of media platforms would ensure widespread and positive coverage of the convention while maintaining credibility and integrity.

Congratulating the members, Idris expressed confidence in their ability to deliver a successful convention and formally inaugurated the committee.

The APC National Convention is scheduled to hold March 25-28, 2026. In December 2025, the party released a comprehensive schedule for its nationwide ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses, culminating in the national convention. According to the timetable signed by APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, the activities aim to elect party officials at all levels in accordance with Articles 11 and 17 of the APC Constitution.
