In a message to mark International Women’s Day (IWD) 2026 on Sunday, the First Lady joined Nigerians and the global community in celebrating the achievements and contributions of women.
“Today, on International Women’s Day 2026, I join millions of Nigerians and the global community in celebrating the strength, courage, tenacity and achievements of women and girls across Nigeria and around the world,” she wrote on her X handle.
Referencing this year’s theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls,” Mrs Tinubu said empowering women goes beyond charity and is essential for national development.
“This year’s theme reminds us that empowering women is not an act of charity; it is an investment in our collective future,” she said.
According to her, providing women with access to education, healthcare, economic opportunities, leadership platforms and justice would lead to stronger families and more prosperous communities.
“When women rise, Nigeria rises,” she added, while extending her good wishes to women across the country in celebration of the day.
