The incident, which occurred on Saturday night, was disclosed in a post on X by security analyst Bakatsine.
According to the report, the attackers stormed the community at night while dressed in women’s hijabs, a disguise believed to have helped them move around the area without raising suspicion.
During the assault, several residents were reportedly killed, while many others were abducted and taken to an unknown destination.
The attack has heightened concerns among residents as violent incidents continue to be reported across communities in Sokoto State.
“Last night, armed bandits reportedly disguised in women’s hijabs attacked Mallamawar Yari village in Gawakuke ward, Rabah LGA, Sokoto State. Several residents were killed and many others abducted during the attack,” Bakatsine wrote.
He added that the continued attacks have raised questions about efforts to address the growing insecurity in the state.
Authorities had not issued an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
