Armed bandits have reportedly imposed a curfew on Bilbis town in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, demanding a ₦30 million levy from residents.
The development was disclosed by security analyst Bakatsine, who shared the information in a post on social media.
Bilbis is the hometown of Senator Ikira Aliyu Bilbis, who represents the Zamfara Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
According to the report, the armed men ordered residents to remain indoors and reportedly enforced a lockdown across the community until the demanded payment is made.
“ZAMFARA UNDER SIEGE: Armed bandits have imposed a curfew and a ₦30 million levy on residents of Bilbis town in Tsafe LGA, Zamfara State,” the post read.
It added that residents are currently living in fear as the gunmen enforce the restrictions across the town.
