Trump Urges Iranian Military To Lay Down Arms, Offers Immunity Amid Ongoing Airstrikes

United States President, Donald Trump, has called on members of Iran’s armed forces, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), to surrender and lay down their weapons, assuring them of safety and immunity while warning that those who continue fighting risk death.

Trump made the appeal during remarks at an event held in the East Room of the White House in Washington, D.C., while hosting players of the 2025 Major League Soccer champions, Inter Miami CF.

Addressing the situation in Iran, the U.S. president urged the country’s military and security agencies to stop resisting the ongoing military offensive.

“I am once again calling on all members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, the military and the police to lay down their arms,” Trump said.

“You will be perfectly safe and granted total immunity, but if you continue to fight, you will face absolutely guaranteed death,” he added.

The warning comes amid intensified joint airstrikes by United States and Israeli forces targeting Iranian military infrastructure. The attacks are said to be focused on missile facilities, air defence systems and key command centres.

Meanwhile, the United States Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, defended the military campaign, insisting that the operation is aimed at weakening Iran’s military strength.

Speaking during a Pentagon briefing on March 5, Hegseth said the United States was making significant progress in the conflict.

“We are winning decisively,” he stated, while dismissing suggestions that the conflict could turn into a prolonged war similar to the Iraq conflict.

Hegseth also criticised British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, over the United Kingdom’s initial hesitation to allow the U.S. military to use British bases, including Diego Garcia, for offensive operations.

The conflict, which has entered its second week, has drawn mixed reactions from the international community, with some countries expressing concern over the risk of escalation and potential civilian casualties.

Trump has repeatedly described the military operation as part of efforts to weaken Iran’s ruling establishment and encourage the Iranian people to reclaim their country.

However, Iranian authorities have rejected the calls for surrender and vowed to resist external pressure.
