Dele Momodu, prominent chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is increasingly unsettled by the rising strength of opposition parties nationwide.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Wednesday, Momodu argued that the opposition’s growing influence is exerting pressure on the federal government, despite the APC’s public portrayal of unity.
“Opposition is gathering momentum and you can see that even the government is jittery, forget about their propaganda,” he said.
“It is obvious the ruling party is jittery, and that is why they are going all out, frenetically, to try to showcase and pretend that all is well.”
Momodu highlighted internal crises within the APC across several states, describing the party as a “house of commotion” with leaders fighting like “babies fighting for lollipops,” citing Benue, Zamfara, and other states as examples.
He also criticised recent defections into the ruling party, claiming that many politicians are motivated by fear rather than genuine support, citing concerns over second-term ambitions, the EFCC, and ICPC investigations.
“A governor will voluntarily go into slavery and servitude because they know the leadership they are dealing with is not a regular leadership; it is not Goodluck Jonathan,” Momodu said.
The ADC chieftain maintained that the current political climate reflects growing tension within the APC as opposition forces reorganise ahead of the 2027 general elections, signalling an intensifying battle for influence at both state and federal levels.
