Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has stated that Iran does not constitute a threat to the United States, cautioning against what he described as unnecessary aggression toward the Middle Eastern nation.
Sani made the remark while reacting to rising tensions surrounding Iran, stressing that unilateral military actions carried out outside the framework of the United Nations could endanger global peace and stability.
In a post shared on his X handle, the former lawmaker condemned reliance on military strength without adherence to international law, warning that such actions could push the world onto a dangerous path.
According to him, decisions that bypass established global institutions undermine international order and increase the risk of wider conflict.
Sani also criticised individuals who openly support war from afar, noting that many of those advocating military confrontation are often insulated from the direct consequences of armed conflict.
He observed that supporters of war frequently have loved ones living safely away from conflict zones, unlike those who bear the real burden of violence.
Emphasising the importance of peace, Sani urged citizens to appreciate the stability they enjoy in their daily lives, describing ordinary routines as privileges often taken for granted.
He said people who can freely take their children to school, go to work, or run their businesses without fear should recognise the value of peace compared to the devastation caused by war.
“The nation of Iran does not pose a threat or danger to the US. Acts of aggression are unnecessary and unfortunate,” he stated.
He added that unilateral military actions that circumvent the United Nations and violate international law place the world on a perilous course.
Sani further noted that many who cheer wars do so from safe environments, far removed from the realities faced by those in conflict areas, urging greater reflection on the meaning of peace and security.
